We are looking for a dynamic and confident engineer to expand our global manufacturing test team. This is a great opportunity to be part of the Manufacturing Technology Development (MTD) organization providing technical leadership and direction on engineering strategies for the development of electronics manufacturing systems.

You will work with product design engineers, manufacturing engineers, cross-functional teams, and our contract manufacturers in our diverse global organisation all around the world. You will be instrumental in guiding manufacturing test teams in the purchase, implementation, and development of electronic manufacturing systems. You will need to be objective and diligent, working with a defined process, but also able to see a bigger picture, voice your opinion, and work to improve product quality through all available avenues.

As lead engineer, you will be responsible for deriving test system architectural design of a manufacturing test system intended for proof of principle tests, engineering phase, and high-volume production. In this role, you will be directly involved in influencing technical details of developing manufacturing test solutions from concept, system architecture, equipment specification, design development, system integration, qualification, deployment, and problem analysis.

You will be the main liaison between the product development team (RDD), test suppliers, and contract manufacturers in ensuring an ergonomic manufacturing test solution is developed and fit for the purpose of high-volume production mode. Additionally, in this role, you must be capable of overseeing high-impact areas and test complexity with a great sense of urgency or any critical issues related to test and measurement solutions by driving internal and external cross-functional collaboration and execution plans for successful deployment of the test solution at contract manufacturers.

Further to this, you will be responsible for collaborating with upstream and downstream teams related to investigation updates (8D fishbone analysis), findings (RCCA), and possible remediations related to manufacturing test issues.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Involving at early phases of product development to understand and influence design of experiment (DoE) with data analysis, design for test (DfT), design for manufacturability (DfM), and reviewing complexity through early NUDD processes.
  • Develop draft manufacturing test plans with product owners and justify the need for manufacturing deployment.
  • Responsible for generating and reviewing test equipment specifications with internal and external teams considering test methods, hardware/software signal interface requirements, and cost-effective instrument integration for complete test solutions.
  • Collaborate with the product design team (RDD) on manufacturing test requirements, test specifications, test limits, and critical tests for quality (CTQ).
  • Review supplier technical proposals (RFP) and optimise test solutions into full scale for high durability and performance.
  • Standardise the design of test solutions where feasible and applicable and maximise the reusability of test equipment for future applications.
  • Work on manufacturing test strategies compatible with the needs of the business and bringing value to the manufacturing processes.
  • Drive engineering deliverables with a great sense of urgency for any productivity issues related to the test and measurement system with the support of the respective functional teams internally and externally.
  • Optimise manufacturing cycle time by streamlining manufacturing test scripts and simplifying test and measurement designs.
  • Drive continuous improvement plans using statistical tools such as CpK analysis to optimise manufacturing test limits.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve tester efficiency.
  • Work with project management teams to deliver test equipment reliably.
  • Lead functional test engineers on technical deliverables and action plans.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Electronics/Mechatronics with more than 15 years’ experience in manufacturing test & measurement solutions.
  • Ability to conduct failure analysis in 8D format and thorough understanding of PCB manufacturing processes for lithium-ion battery pack assembly.
  • Good technical know-how on failure analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team effort in accomplishing goals.
  • Good understanding of safety matters related to lithium-ion battery pack assemblies.
  • Excellent leadership in problem-solving, reporting, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders, influencing technical decisions on complex problem investigations and solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement & optimisation activities to meet production volume targets.
  • Enable statistical process control (SPC) on testers' data analysis and create standard operation and maintenance plan procedures to support the transition of test equipment to sustaining teams.
  • Good knowledge of PCBA mounting drawings, layouts, and electronic schematics diagrams.
  • Experience in developing and taking new automated manufacturing processes and equipment from the prototype stage through high-volume production.
  • Clear understanding of manufacturing production metrics, field data, quality, and reliability data.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines of multiple simultaneous projects and challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, peers, and manufacturing operation teams.
  • Able to travel locally and internationally, when necessary, within short notice during critical problem solving.
