R&D Process Technician
Location: Site based, Lincoln
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time: Monday to Friday: 08:30-16:30, finishing at 14:00 on Friday's.

About the Role
We are looking for an R&D Process Technician to join our Research & Development team in Lincoln.
This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the R&D laboratory, including equipment maintenance, test set-up and execution, scientific investigations, data analysis and process improvement. You will work closely with equipment engineers, suppliers and other technical specialists to ensure R&D equipment and processes operate safely, effectively and reliably.
The role would suit someone with a practical scientific or engineering background who enjoys working in a laboratory environment, solving technical problems and contributing to a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, analyse and troubleshoot R&D equipment, liaising with equipment engineers and suppliers where required.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work with relevant professionals to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Set up and conduct tests, analyse and interpret results, and make appropriate technical recommendations.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations and other documentation.
- Conduct and support scientific investigations and experiments within the R&D laboratory.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance plans for R&D equipment.
- Carry out and support Risk Assessments and CoSHH assessments relating to equipment, processes and materials.
- Maintain appropriate levels of R&D laboratory stock and resources, including placing orders where required.
- Take responsibility for specific R&D equipment and ensure it is operated, maintained and managed appropriately.
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, Manufacturing Instructions, operating procedures and Risk Assessments, ensuring these are aligned with the approach defined by the Team Leader.
- Follow company procedures and contribute to a strong culture of Health & Safety within the R&D Centre.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across R&D and other departments.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to improving laboratory processes and activities.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the role as requested by the Line Manager and/or Director.
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, methodical and comfortable working in a laboratory environment. You will need to be able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues across different technical disciplines.
You will ideally have:
- A Level 3, A Level, HNC or equivalent qualification in a Science-related subject.
- Some experience or knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, processes and materials.
- Experience or knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing would be advantageous.
- An understanding of Risk Assessments and CoSHH requirements, with the ability to contribute to or prepare assessments.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office.
- The ability to analyse and present test data in a clear and meaningful way.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures and guidelines.
- The ability to manage multiple projects or activities at the same time.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
