About the Role
We are looking for an experience Power Assemblies Test Engineer to join out Power Assemblies team in Lincoln.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will be responsible for the testing, fault-finding, repair and validation of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical power assembly products.
You will work closely with Engineering, Production and Assembly teams to ensure products are built and tested to the required technical, quality and safety standards.
The role would suit an engineer with strong electrical testing and diagnostic skills who enjoys solving technical problems and working in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Power Assembly units and sub-assemblies for electrical, electronic and hydraulic testing.
- Carry out routine and type testing using manual and semi-automated test equipment, including testing of high-voltage equipment.
- Record, analyse and verify test results against defined acceptance criteria.
- Support system-level testing, commissioning and validation activities.
- Develop, review and improve test plans, procedures and work instructions.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic and mechanical faults and develop effective repair solutions.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Assembly teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
- Support the build, assembly and integration of power electronic systems and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, drawings and bills of materials.
- Assist with wiring modifications, repairs and rework where required.
- Maintain accurate test records, reports and engineering documentation.
- Support compliance with UKCA/CE requirements, relevant standards and company procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, product quality, manufacturing processes and productivity.
- Promote a Right First Time approach across testing and manufacturing activities.
- Carry out final product inspections and checks prior to shipment.
- Provide technical support to engineers and, where required, assist with customer, supplier, commissioning and site-based activities.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality, particularly when working with high-voltage equipment.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate
- Experience in testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electro-mechanical equipment.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Experience using electrical test equipment and accurately recording test data.
- A good understanding of electrical components, control panels and power systems.
- Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A sound understanding of safe working practices, particularly when working with high-voltage systems.
- A methodical approach and excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of manufacturing and quality processes.
- Good computer literacy and experience producing technical documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- HNC/HND, ONC/OND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic or related Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience .
- Proven experience in electrical testing, production test, service engineering or a related engineering environment.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
Desirable
- Experience with power electronics products and systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic testing systems.
- Experience creating or maintaining test procedures and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with UKCA/CE requirements and relevant industry standards.
- Experience in panel building, wiring and electrical assembly.
- Knowledge of power conversion equipment.
- Previous commissioning or field service experience.
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- BS7671 qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
