THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Bipolar BU Process Technician to join our Bipolar Process Engineering team at Dynex Semiconductor.

Working within a specialist semiconductor manufacturing environment, you will play an important role in supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations, maintaining process standards and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and production yields.

Working closely with production operators, engineers and other technical teams, you will help ensure our manufacturing processes operate safely, consistently and effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical engineering experience who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively and contributing to continuous improvement within a technically challenging environment.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a Bipolar BU Process Technician, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out routine manufacturing process checks, support production operators and help maintain consistent process performance across assigned manufacturing areas.
  • Set up, operate and monitor manufacturing and test equipment, ensuring safe working practices and reporting any faults or abnormalities.
  • Investigate routine process issues, gather relevant information and work alongside engineers to identify solutions and minimise production disruption.
  • Review batches placed on hold, inspect products against approved acceptance criteria and support decisions relating to product release, rework or scrap.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve yields, minimise rework and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support engineering trials, collect and analyse process data and help evaluate the effectiveness of approved improvements.
  • Review operating instructions, assist with updates to manufacturing procedures and maintain accurate process, equipment and production records.
  • Assist with operator training and competency assessments to help maintain high standards of technical knowledge and operational consistency.
  • Follow established safe working procedures, COSHH requirements and risk assessments, contributing to a safe and well-organised manufacturing environment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a practical, enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and has a genuine interest in improving processes and solving technical challenges.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • HND in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or working towards), together with at least two years' relevant practical experience in a similar environment; or
  • HNC in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, together with at least three years' relevant practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes used in high-power semiconductor production, including wafer fabrication, chemical and mechanical processes, and high-voltage and high-current electrical testing.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • A commitment to quality, safe working practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • A flexible, organised and proactive approach to work.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience preparing technical reports and presenting process or production data.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for basic data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing software such as Solid Edge or AutoCAD.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing production requirements.
