About the Role: Dynex is seeking a hands-on and highly skilled Equipment Engineer to support our Test and Assembly equipment in the Bipolar and IGBT manufacturing areas. This is a diverse and practical role with a strong focus on maintaining and repairing electronics-based systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for both routine preventative maintenance and urgent breakdown support, with a strong emphasis on fault diagnosis and repair down to component level. You will be instrumental in improving equipment reliability, designing and building test fixtures, and contributing to new test equipment projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid electronics background who thrives on solving complex technical problems in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance and repair work on test and assembly equipment, with a focus on electronic fault diagnosis to component level.
- Design and build test fixtures and bespoke equipment to support ongoing projects.
- Conduct modifications and improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Work across a range of systems including Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Vacuum, Process Gas, and mechanical systems.
- Perform high-standard soldering and wiring work.
- Support technicians within the group on electronic and electrical issues.
- Utilise CAD systems and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics accurately.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and ensure all work complies with health and safety policies.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a technical environment, preferably in maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electronics and proven ability to fault find to component level.
- Experience with and an understanding of power electronics would be advantageous.
- Skilled in practical soldering and wiring to a high standard.
- Experience with mechanical, vacuum, compressed gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is desirable.
- Familiarity with CAD software and able to read detailed schematics.
- Knowledge of single and 3-phase electrical systems.
- Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment.
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND in Electronics (essential).
- Good standard of English and Mathematics.
- Electrical qualifications (desirable).
