We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Application Engineer to join our Product Group Team, providing technical application support across our Dynex and TSC bipolar and IGBT product ranges. These products are deployed in a wide range of sectors, including industrial motor drives, automotive, renewable energy systems, HVDC, power generation and storage, and rail traction/locomotives.



The role involves offering technical expertise to our customers from initial enquiries and solution proposals, through to troubleshooting during testing and application. You will also contribute to product development, customer validation and the wider promotion of our power semiconductor technologies.



Responsibilities



  • Deliver application and field support for power semiconductor products across multiple sectors.

  • Perform circuit-level simulation, characterisation and evaluation of modules using PLECS and SPICE tools.

  • Develop and maintain PLECS/SPICE-compatible numerical models for product evaluation, enhancement, and external proposals.

  • Monitor market demands, specifications and emerging trends in power semiconductor products.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and benchmarking of state-of-the-art devices, including datasheet interpretation, simulation and experimental testing.

  • Build and evaluate customer-oriented application circuits, supporting prototype validation in line with international standards.

  • Support sales teams with product promotion and provide technical input to product development.

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, including test reports, application notes, and datasheets.

  • Deliver written and verbal technical reports and presentations.

  • Contribute to peer-reviewed research publications and international conference proceedings.



Knowledge, Skills & Experience



  • Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes) and their characteristics.

  • Solid understanding of power electronic circuit topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost, inverters).

  • Hands-on experience in power system design, power converter principles, simulation, and testing.

  • Proven track record in hardware design and development of power converters in at least one of: industrial motor drives, automotive, rail traction, HVDC, renewable energy.

  • Proficiency with PLECS and SPICE simulators at a professional level.

  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, Altium, LabVIEW an advantage.

  • Strong collaborator with experience working across internal and external project teams.

  • Skilled at building and maintaining professional relationships.

  • Confident in presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.

Education & Qualifications



  • A bachelors degree (or above) in microelectronics, solid-state electronics, materials engineering, power electronics, physics, or a closely related discipline.
