We are recruiting for a brand new Technical Support Manager role within a long standing large Fire & Security business based near Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Fire & Security professional who's ready to step into a more senior role.
The TSM must fully engage in the motivation, training and auditing of our technical workforce and Academy Trainees. The responsibility of the TSM is to support the growth of the business by upskilling existing employees and training new entrants to the fire and security market.
- People Management
- Approving / Declining annual leave and family leave types.
- Administrating E-Days to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining accurate records of all current performance of all technicians in upskill programme.
- Ensuring that all steps are adequately followed during all employee life cycles with the business, including probationary review meetings, training path sign‑off and regular time on site to deliver both constructive and positive feedback.
- Being accountable for the team’s performance and monitoring revenue during trainee loan working.
- Assessing and training technicians through a variety of platforms in line with British Standards and ensuring they complete their training path as required.
- Working with the Service Manager to ensure fair management of staff by utilising company policy and procedure, using HR support as required to aid the uplift of capability or conduct where required.
- Training
- Assessing and training technicians at the request of the SM as they move through their training path, in a manner that is supportive to aid progression.
- Supporting future development using the Technician upskill programme.
- Auditing technicians to identify any gaps in knowledge that need addressing and delivering solutions either yourself or via another FLM.
- Attending training on site with technicians within your specialism once a month at our training hubs, with a clear understanding of your remit for each session.
- When required and appropriate, training all staff on Fire Industry specifics through a variety of platforms.
