Principal Medical Writer – Medical Communications Position: Principal Medical Writer Location: Remote (or hybrid in London) Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Up to £65k (DOE) Start: ASAP Principal Medical Writer – This is a great opportunity to join a flourishing editorial team! As a member of the scientific team, you will have the opportunity to shape your role to fit your strengths and be instrumental in the ongoing development and growth of the division. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional writing skills, a deep understanding of clinical medicine, and extensive experience to the table. In this role, you will work across a range of medical affairs accounts, taking pride in delivering outstanding work while being highly organised and forward-thinking to meet client expectations. A key aspect of your responsibilities will include setting the standard for quality and providing expert guidance on project scope and direction for both internal teams and clients. In addition, you will lead the strategic planning of projects. You will also play an active role in identifying opportunities to enhance the efficiency and quality of the scientific content team, driving continuous improvement across the organisation. Role & Responsibilities: Provide high-level medical writing support within accounts, achieving writing excellence across therapy areas and the communication mix and target audiences Review written scientific documents for writing style, strategy, content accuracy and fact/data checking, and provide constructive feedback, in addition to ensuring scientific accuracy Act as the Technical Lead on designated client projects Apply expertise and broad experience of medical communications to the development of strategic communications programmes across accounts Ensure all assigned projects are delivered to the highest possible editorial and scientific standards, to deadline and within budget Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and external thought leaders Manage and monitor own workload. Monitor project budgets. Anticipate and provide solutions to budget and/or resource needs or limitations. Identify where new processes may be required and support their development Keep up to date with industry codes of practice/legislation and external issues or events that may affect existing accounts Monitor project costs against agreed budgets and notify the Client Services team of any changes to specification at the earliest opportunity Contribute to the development of account plan forecasts in liaison with client services leads Research and contribute to the writing and review of new business proposals and pitch presentations, playing a central role from initial strategic brainstorming to proposal delivery Proactively identify possible new business opportunities within assigned accounts Requirements: ~ Degree (science, preferably life science); PhD or MSc (desirable) ~ Scientific knowledge and understanding ~ Proficiency in delivering high-quality written work ~ High level of drive, motivation, and initiative ~ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ~ Some international travel will be necessary ~ Awareness of industry guidelines and best practice and their application ~5+ years of experience as a Medical Writer in a medical communications agency #medcomms #medicalcommunications #medicalwriter #medicaleducation #healthcareadvertising #healthcare #pharma Principal Medical Writer – Medical Communications
