Description

This is a hands-on press office role for someone at the start of their PR career who wants real ownership and the opportunity to build strong media relationships in a fast-moving fintech and financial services business.

The Press Officer will help protect and grow Dynamic Planner’s profile across the financial services trade press and support our ambition to build greater national media awareness.

You will own the day-to-day press office: developing stories, pitching to journalists, managing editorial opportunities, coordinating comment, supporting research and data-led PR, and ensuring we maintain a consistent pipeline of proactive media activity.

You will work closely with the Marketing Director, senior leaders, subject matter experts, content and product marketing teams to turn Dynamic Planner’s expertise, data, research, customer momentum and product innovation into credible stories that journalists want to cover.

Key themes include AI (Advice-grade AI) and the future of advice, financial wellbeing, investment services, adviser technology, risk and suitability, targeted support and the advice gap.

Although this is a junior role it is not a purely administrative one.

We are looking for someone proactive, organised and confident enough to pick up the phone, build relationships and keep activity moving.

You will receive support and development, while being expected to grow quickly into the day-to-day owner of Dynamic Planner’s press office.

Show Off Your Writing Skills:In public relations, clear and persuasive writing is key! Make sure your CV and cover letter are not only polished but also reflect your ability to communicate effectively. Consider including a writing sample, like a press release or a blog post, to showcase your style and skills.

Tailor Your Experience to PR:Even if you’re just starting out, your previous experiences can shine! Highlight any internships, volunteer roles, or projects where you engaged with media or managed communications. This will show us at Dynamic Planner that you already understand some basics of PR.

Demonstrate Your Passion for the Industry:We love to see genuine interest! Use your cover letter to express why you’re excited about public relations and why you'd love to work at Dynamic Planner. Mention any relevant courses, readings, or events that have inspired you—it'll help us see your commitment to the field!

How to prepare for a job interview at Dynamic Planner

Craft Your Personal Brand Story

In public relations, your personal narrative matters! Think about how your experiences, even if they’re limited, shape your understanding of brand communication. Prepare a concise story that showcases your passion for PR, perhaps how you handled a group project or any relevant internship experience—this will highlight your potential to connect with audiences.

Get Familiar with PR Tools

As an entry-level candidate, you might not be expected to know everything, but showing familiarity with tools like Hootsuite or Canva can set you apart. Have a couple of examples ready where you used such tools in your university projects or internships. It shows you're not just enthusiastic but also prepared to dive right into the practical side of things.

Know the Latest Trends in PR

Make sure you're up-to-date with current events and major brand campaigns. Be prepared to discuss a few recent PR campaigns that caught your eye and why they were effective. This demonstrates your genuine interest in the field and your ability to think critically—big plus points for us in PR!

Prepare for Hypothetical Scenarios

You may face some scenario-based questions during your interview. Get ready to discuss how you would handle specific PR crises or how you would launch a campaign for a new product. Practising these types of questions can help you articulate your thought process clearly and show your problem-solving skills to Dynamic Planner.
