We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to join a growing business operating across recruitment, fibre, and solar contracting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple income streams, and partnering closely with senior management to support business growth.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the business, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and clear commercial insight across all divisions.
The Role
- You will manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reporting.
- You will provide clear financial analysis to support decision-making and monitor profitability across recruitment, fibre, and solar operations.
- A key part of the role will be ensuring accurate revenue recognition for both recruitment placements and contract-based projects.
- You will have full responsibility for recruitment finance, including contractor payroll, client invoicing, timesheet processing, VAT, and margin analysis.
- You will also manage credit control and ensure smooth cash flow to support contractor funding and business operations.
- For the fibre and solar divisions, you will oversee project and contract finance, including cost control, work in progress, variations, and profitability reporting.
- You will work closely with operations teams to ensure financial data accurately reflects live projects and contract performance.
- You will ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT, payroll, CIS (where applicable), and financial reporting standards.
- The role also involves liaising with external accountants, auditors, banks, and HMRC.
- You will help improve financial processes, systems, and controls as the business grows, and may support or manage junior finance staff over time.
About You
- You will have proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar role, ideally within recruitment, labour-based, or contract-driven businesses.
- You will be confident managing contractor payroll and understand the financial mechanics of recruitment operations.
- Experience in project or contract finance, particularly within construction, fibre, utilities, or renewable energy sectors, would be highly beneficial.
- You will have strong commercial awareness, excellent attention to detail, and be comfortable working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
- A formal accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) is desirable but not essential if you have strong relevant experience.
- You should be confident using Excel and financial systems and able to communicate financial information clearly.
