We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Control Manager to oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities on utility-scale solar farm projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical and electrical installation works are completed in accordance with project specifications, client requirements, applicable standards, and industry best practices.

The Quality Control Manager will lead inspection and testing activities, manage quality documentation, coordinate with contractors and client representatives, and be responsible for the final quality sign-off of completed works throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

A minimum of 5 years' proven experience managing quality control on utility-scale solar farm projects is essential, with demonstrable expertise across both mechanical and electrical installation disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Quality Management Plan (QMP).
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with project specifications, drawings, contract requirements, and relevant industry standards.
  • Manage quality control processes throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections of all mechanical and electrical installation works.
  • Verify that all work complies with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Method Statements.
  • Review and approve quality documentation, including inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, and test records.
  • Coordinate with site management, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and client representatives to ensure quality objectives are achieved.
  • Lead quality inspections for client and third-party witness points.
  • Identify non-conformances, investigate root causes, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Maintain accurate records for quality assurance and project handover documentation.
  • Monitor workmanship standards across all disciplines.
  • Ensure all mechanical and electrical installations are completed prior to final sign-off.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning quality inspections where required.
  • Support project completion, energisation, and handover activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement across quality systems and construction processes.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and project quality procedures.
Mechanical Quality Responsibilities

The successful candidate must demonstrate extensive experience inspecting and signing off mechanical installation works including:

  • PV module installation
  • Mounting structures and tracker systems
  • Foundation installation
  • Torque verification
  • Structural alignment and tolerances
  • Cable management systems
  • Equipment mounting
  • Mechanical completion inspections
  • Snagging and close-out activities
Electrical Quality Responsibilities

The successful candidate must have proven experience inspecting and approving:

Essential Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing quality control on utility-scale solar farm construction projects.
  • Demonstrable experience overseeing both mechanical and electrical quality inspections from construction through to project completion.
  • Proven experience in signing off completed works prior to commissioning and client handover.
  • Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV construction methodologies.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors.
  • Experience managing quality documentation and inspection records.
  • Proven ability to lead quality inspections with clients and third-party inspectors.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems knowledge.
  • CSCS Card (or equivalent site competency certification as applicable).
  • Full UK driving licence (or equivalent where applicable).

Desirable:

  • Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 9001).
  • Electrical testing or commissioning qualifications.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification.
  • Renewable Energy or Solar PV certification.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of utility-scale solar farm construction.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical quality standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Experience using quality management software.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
