My client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Assistant Head of IT Systems to join their dynamic team in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled IT professional with a strong background in .NET technologies to help shape the future of their IT infrastructure, drive innovation, and optimize the performance of business-critical systems.
In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Head of IT Systems to oversee the management, delivery, and enhancement of their IT systems, with a particular focus on .NET platforms. Your leadership will drive the ongoing development and optimization of systems that power the business, ensuring high performance, security, and alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership & Operational Excellence: Support and collaborate with the Head of IT Systems in steering the IT strategy, focusing particularly on .NET systems and their integration with wider business needs. Take ownership of day-to-day operations of IT systems, managing .NET applications, system performance, and providing operational support for the IT teams. Provide leadership in the absence of the Head of IT Systems, ensuring that all IT systems function smoothly and contribute to organizational success.
- .NET Systems Monitoring & Optimization: Oversee the performance and health of .NET-based systems and work closely with system administrators to ensure the systems are optimized for scalability, reliability, and security. Lead the timely application of patches, updates, and system enhancements, particularly for .NET technologies, ensuring the highest standards are maintained. Drive strategic improvements and provide technical guidance on .NET architecture and design, ensuring continuous optimization and alignment with the business’s evolving needs.
- Policy, Governance & Compliance: Collaborate with the Head of IT Systems to implement and enforce IT policies and procedures that support compliance with industry standards and internal governance, focusing on .NET infrastructure. Conduct periodic reviews and compliance checks to ensure that the IT systems are in full alignment with the company’s standards and regulatory requirements, especially regarding .NET-based platforms.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Manage and nurture vendor relationships to ensure that third-party solutions and services related to .NET technologies meet the company’s high standards and operational needs. Assist in evaluating vendor proposals and performance reports, ensuring that external partners align with the strategic direction of the organization’s IT systems.
- Project Leadership & Delivery: Collaborate closely with the Head of IT Systems to lead .NET-focused IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met. Work with the PMO team to support the effective delivery of IT projects, ensuring that project documentation is maintained and that stakeholders are engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reporting & Data-Driven Insights: Lead the development of reports that track the performance and effectiveness of .NET-based systems, providing actionable insights to drive future improvements. Help create intuitive dashboards that visualize system performance and key metrics, enabling senior management to make informed decisions.
- Innovation & System Improvement: Research and stay abreast of emerging trends in .NET technologies, offering innovative ideas to modernize the IT systems and keep them ahead of the curve. Drive initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of .NET-based operations, ensuring continuous progress and adaptation to business needs.
- Essential Skills & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with hands-on experience in .NET development and system management. Proven experience in a senior IT management role, with a strong focus on .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET, MVC, and Azure. Demonstrated success in managing the optimization and integration of .NET systems to meet business objectives, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. Expertise in network management, cloud technologies, and IT security practices, particularly in .NET environments. Strong leadership and project management experience, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive the delivery of complex IT initiatives. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
