Job Summary

A skilled manufacturing operator responsible for operating and setting press brake machinery to support production continuity within a precision manufacturing environment. The role involves interpreting engineering documentation, setting tooling, programming machinery and ensuring all products meet required quality standards.

Responsibilities

Press Brake Operations

  • Operate press brakes in accordance with job operation cards and work instructions.
  • Set tooling and punches/blocks for specific jobs as required.
  • Programme and modify machine programmes as necessary.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work cards accurately.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process checks prior to formal inspection.
  • Ensure tooling is used correctly and maintained in serviceable condition.
  • Carry out minor machine maintenance and daily equipment checks.
  • Report defects, machine faults or non-conformances immediately.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Maintain production flow and support wider manufacturing operations as required.
  • Complete production and quality records accurately using SFDC and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Ensure correct handling and traceability of components throughout production.
  • Work in line with production schedules and operational requirements.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain high quality standards at all times in line with company and customer requirements.
  • Identify and report non-conforming products or process issues.
  • Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives across the department.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area.

Required Skills and Competences

  • Experience operating and setting press brake machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of punch and block/tooling selection for varying jobs.
  • Experience programming and modifying press brake programmes.
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Flexible and adaptable to support operational requirements.
  • Competent in the use of production reporting systems including SFDC.
  • Ability to communicate issues clearly and work effectively as part of a team.

General

  • Maintain good housekeeping practises in line with Company 5S standards.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, including those related to Health & Safety, Data, Protection and the issued Employee Policies.
  • Wear and maintain all required personal protective equipment.
  • Be expected to carry out any other such duties as may reasonably be required.

Education & Experience

  • Experience as a Press Brake Operator within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, work cards and specifications.
  • Good understanding of quality requirements and inspection standards.
  • Knowledge of BS5750 and TQM principles desirable.
  • Specialist training in machine operation and setting preferred.
  • Good English and Maths skills.
  • Power Press Setters certification desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with limited supervision.
  • Problem solving and solutions-focused attitude.

  • Full time
  • Salary – Β£28,600.00–£31,00.00 per annum
  • Hours – Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Friday 7:00 am to 12:00 pm
