Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire Engineering Minds: Establish a safe, stimulating workshop environment rooted in mutual respect. Set ambitious goals that challenge pupils to solve real-world design and engineering problems.
  • Deliver Technical Rigor: Take accountability for students' progress and outcomes. Cultivate a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, material properties, and engineering mechanics while addressing student misconceptions.
  • Workshop Safety & Management: Maintain high expectations of behaviour and strict workshop routines. Ensure machinery, tools, and materials are used safely and effectively to keep students motivated and secure.
  • Structured & Creative Lessons: Plan well-structured lessons that optimize workshop time, promote intellectual curiosity, and use targeted out-of-class tasks to extend learning.
  • Adaptive Teaching: Adapt your approach to support all learners. Understand how physical, social, and intellectual development impacts a student's ability to grasp technical concepts, making modifications for SEND, high-ability, or EAL pupils.
  • Data-Driven Assessment: Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and target gaps. Provide regular, accurate technical feedback and marking to guide student improvement.
  • Professional Collaboration: Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, deploy workshop technicians/support staff effectively, and communicate student achievements to parents.
