Linux/Unix Engineer 18 months + £300 to £350 a day Inside IR35
Hybrid Working in Telford MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR SECURITY CLEARANCE DXP Talent is seeking a number of Linux and Unix Engineers to provide support, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of as part of a Government project. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, security, and availability of Linux and Unix based systems supporting business-critical applications and services. The role will involve working closely with infrastructure, security, application, and project teams to maintain operational excellence within a secure environment.
You'll be an experienced Linux Engineer with a background in Server Builds, Scripting, Upgrades/Migrations, Patching, VMware, Security etc and MUST BE able to obtain Security Clearance.
The role will be based in Telford initially but offers remote working after an initial 'settling in' period.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, support, and maintain Linux environments (RHEL 6 to 9, OEL 6 to 7, SEL 11) Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning. Manage operating system patching, upgrades, and security remediation activities. Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access controls in accordance with security policies. Investigate and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed service levels. Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides. Participate in change management processes, including implementation planning and execution. Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities. Collaborate with wider infrastructure and application teams to deliver operational and project-based work. Ensure systems remain compliant with organisational security and governance requirements.
