We are hiring for an IT Change Manager to join an existing support team who provide services into the Public Sector on an initial 12 month contract. The role is predominantly based on-site at our clients office in Birmingham with the ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week depending on the demands of the role.

The IT Change Manager is responsible for managing the Change Enablement practice, ensuring that changes to IT services, applications, infrastructure, and operational processes are assessed, authorised, prioritised, scheduled, and implemented with controlled risk. The role works closely with technical teams, service owners, business stakeholders and governance bodies to maximise change success while maintaining service stability and supporting business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Change Control and Governance: Own and maintain the Change Management/Enablement process. Ensure all changes follow defined policies, procedures, and approval workflows. Assess change requests for completeness, risk, impact, and business justification.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential risks to services, infrastructure, security, compliance, and business operations. Ensure appropriate testing, validation, and rollback plans are in place. Balance the need for agility with the need for operational stability.
  • Change Authorisation: Facilitate and coordinate Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings where required. Obtain appropriate approvals according to organisational change policies. Ensure emergency changes receive expedited but controlled authorisation.
  • Change Scheduling and Coordination: Manage the Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) or Change Calendar. Coordinate implementation windows to minimise service disruption. Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts between concurrent changes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate change plans, risks, expected impacts, and outcomes to stakeholders. Ensure affected business units, support teams, and customers are informed appropriately. Act as the central point of coordination for significant changes.
  • Post-Implementation Review: Verify that changes achieve their intended outcomes. Conduct post-implementation reviews (PIRs) for failed or high-risk changes. Identify lessons learned and opportunities for continual improvement.
