We are seeking an on-site Wintel Engineer, providing support for one of our key public sector clients. This is a high-impact role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, focused on the support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Due to the customer requirements, successful applicants must be eligible for high level UK Security clearance and DV.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivery of assigned tasks within the delivery cycle of a project.
- Design and installation of new system applications; updating applications, firmware, and drivers.
- Creating boundaries, performing configuration and testing activities as part of an obsolescence project(s).
- Work without direction and with customer nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Contributes to design for specific deliverables and assists in the development of technical solutions.
- Participate as part of a team and maintain good relationships with team members, internal DXC Teams and customers.
- Use knowledge tools and reuse information for the benefit of projects and of professional development.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in Windows Server (2003 to 2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Windows PKI, VMware vSphere and ESXi, VMWare vCenter.
- Experience with VMware vCenter, VMWare ESXi and Docker.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Good understanding of networks and domain structure.
Desirable Skills and Certifications:
- Any Microsoft, Citrix, or VMWare certification.
- Knowledge of client or midrange OSes, networking and security.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with HP Blade System or similar blade servers/chassis and interconnect technologies.
- Experience with HP Cloud Service Automation or similar self-service cloud management technology.
- Experience with HP Server Automation or similar system configuration/software deployment technology.
- Experience with security policy enforcement products such as Symantec Datacenter Security.
