We are currently looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients based on-site location Newcastle Helix, Draymans Way, Newcastle Upon Tyne. This is a full-time position working a 37.5-hour week Monday – Friday. The ideal candidate will be required to have a flexible approach as overtime and on-call duties may be required. Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate will need to obtain SC Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Working on a secure single person location with End User Compute support, with wider support team on sister locations throughout the UK.
- Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration and deployment to end users.
- Software installation / deployment.
- Asset and peripheral deployments.
- In depth investigation into issues to pass back to 3rd line support.
- Assisting the 2nd Line support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls.
- Hardware installation / upgrade / break fix for desktop, laptop, and server.
- Smartphone support (Android & iOS).
- VIP support.
- Service Desk cover as required.
- Assisting with customer projects.
What we’re looking for:
- Microsoft Windows 7 and 10 Operating Systems – Deployment, configuration Support.
- Microsoft Office 2010 onwards.
- Proven and demonstrable software and hardware troubleshooting skills, experience in a Deskside Support role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / Application deployment.
- Good verbal communication: ability to communicate to all levels.
- Good written communication: concise and accurate call logging, documentation, and email correspondence.
- Good time management / organisational skills.
- Work well independently or as part of a team.
- Self-motivated.
- Good problem solver.
- Proactive approach.
- Excellent customer skills a must for this position.
Desirable skills / qualifications:
- Microsoft Windows 7/10 training and certification.
- Legacy O/S.
- Active Directory management.
- Understanding of SCCM.
- Exposure to Win11.
- Exposure to Entra, Azure and ZScaler.
- Understanding of McAfee EPO.
