You will act as the functional authority for SAP Payroll, governing solution design and configuration while leading workshops to define pay structures, wage types, and statutory requirements. The role will oversee payroll simulations, mock runs, reconciliations, and cutover rehearsals to guarantee payroll readiness.
In addition, you will provide oversight for WRICEF development, ensure data migration accuracy, and support audit-ready payroll operations post-go-live. The Payroll Lead will also play a key role in mentoring consultants, uplifting delivery capability, and embedding payroll best practice into the wider programme.

- Configure and govern payroll schemas, rules, wage types, calendars, and statutory deductions.
- Ensure seamless integration with Time Management, Finance (FI/CO), and third-party payroll interfaces.
- Oversee payroll simulations, parallel runs, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Define audit controls, compliance checkpoints, and reporting requirements.
- Support WRICEF functional design and oversee payroll-related enhancements.
- Validate payroll data migration and contribute to cutover planning and rehearsals.
- Produce functional documentation, process maps, and audit-ready artefacts.
- Mentor junior consultants and strengthen payroll capability across the delivery team.
Experience & Skills Required
- Demonstrated expertise in SAP Payroll design and delivery within S/4HANA programmes.
- Strong knowledge of schemas, rules, wage types, statutory deductions, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven experience with parallel payroll runs, reconciliations, and audit controls.
- Familiarity with integration points to Time Management, HR Core (PA/OM), and Finance postings.
- Understanding of multi-country payroll operations and statutory legislation.
Tools & Methodologies
- SAP S/4HANA Payroll, Payroll Control Center, Fiori payroll apps.
- Solution Manager, JIRA, Confluence, Signavio.
- SAP Activate methodology; Agile delivery frameworks.
Qualifications
- Degree in HR, Finance, or IT.
- SAP Payroll certification (preferred).
- Payroll compliance or audit credentials (e.g. CIPP, payroll association memberships) desirable.
Stakeholder & Soft Skills
- Confident communicator, able to engage HR Directors, Payroll Managers, Finance Controllers, and Audit stakeholders.
- Detail-driven, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and reconciliation discipline.
- Collaborative leader with mentoring and team management capability.
- Comfortable delivering in multi-vendor, high-assurance, and regulated programme environments.
