DXC supports one of the largest and most complex technology estates in the London Insurance Market — over 120 interconnected applications spanning distributed, cloud and IBM Mainframe platforms. The Mainframe remains a strategic pillar of this estate, powering critical business services, core processing, data integration and regulatory workloads. We’re looking for an experienced IBM Mainframe Architect to lead the architectural direction, technology refresh and transformation of this ecosystem as part of a multi-year modernisation programme.
What you’ll Do:
- Lead Legacy Remediation — Identify risks, inefficiencies and modernisation opportunities across mainframe systems
- Define Architecture & Design — Build robust solutions transitioning from legacy data movement tools to modern, secure, scalable alternatives
- Modernise Data Integration — Evaluate and replace Attunity-based pipelines with contemporary integration platforms
- Optimise Performance & Reliability — Ensure high availability and data integrity during and after remediation
- Strengthen Security & Compliance — Address vulnerabilities in outdated tools; ensure regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with Stakeholders — Partner with infrastructure, application and data teams to align with business goals
- Govern & Document — Maintain detailed remediation plans, architectural decisions and migration paths for audit and governance
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience as an IBM Mainframe Architect or Senior Mainframe Technical Lead
- Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS, CICS, DB2, RACF, JES3 and Mainframe storage technologies
- Understanding of COBOL and PL/1 application development within mainframe environments
- Experience with Attunity (now Qlik) and legacy data integration patterns
- Solid grasp of modern data integration technologies and AWS services integration
- Proven ability to lead complex remediation projects with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and DevOps practices in mainframe contexts
