About The Role

We are seeking an experienced software developer to lead a team of engineers in the Farnborough, UK facility.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role where you will guide software development, provide mentorship, and contribute to the execution of our engineering strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a team of software engineers in product and solutions development, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and hands‑on support.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define project requirements and ensure successful delivery on time and within scope.
  • Assist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through feedback, coaching, and career development planning.
  • Contribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments.
  • Manage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient execution.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to maintain code quality and best practices.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering and development.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a similar technical leadership or mentoring role.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming with hands‑on experience in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems (system administration, kernel knowledge, or application development).
  • Proficiency in Python programming with real‑world project experience.
  • Strong programming and debugging skills across multiple languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with software development methodologies and best practices (Agile, Scrum, CI/CD).
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a technical leadership role.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications or training (Agile/Scrum Master, cloud certifications).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
  • Experience with software architecture and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and secure coding principles.
  • Experience with embedded systems or systems programming.
  • Security Clearance

UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is mandatory for this role.

  • Holders of a valid British passport.
  • Continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years.
