At DXC Technology, our Cyber Defence team is growing, and we’re looking for a SOC Analyst Level 2 to join our Security Operations Centre team in Farnborough. This is an opportunity to work in a high-security environment where your skills and experience will have a direct impact in helping protect critical systems and customers from evolving cyber threats. As part of our SOC team, you’ll play a key role in monitoring and responding to security incidents, supporting junior analysts on shift, and helping us continuously improve the way we operate. We’re looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, stays calm under pressure, and is passionate about cyber security and continuous learning.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Monitoring and investigating alerts from SIEM tools within a 24/7/365 SOC environment.
  • Responding to and triaging security incidents, escalating where appropriate.
  • Acting as a senior point of contact on days, supporting junior analysts during investigations.
  • Contributing to the improvement of SOC playbooks, processes, documentation, and detection use cases.
  • Helping identify ways to improve workflows and strengthen SOC operations.
  • Reviewing KPIs and trends to support service improvement initiatives.
  • Staying up to date with the latest cyber threats, threat actors, and attack techniques relevant to our customers.
  • Taking part in ongoing learning, knowledge sharing, and technical development opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, protocols, and traffic flows.
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems in a security-focused environment.
  • Confidence analysing logs and identifying suspicious or malicious behaviour.
  • Familiarity with threat actors, TTPs, and modern detection techniques.
  • Experience using Elastic Stack and SIEM technologies.
  • Knowledge of OSINT techniques and how they can support investigations.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to different audiences.
  • The ability to manage workloads effectively while supporting wider shift activities.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to continue developing your technical skills.

This role operates a 4-on / 4-off shift rota working across days and nights.

Desirable Experience

  • Cyber security certifications such as CompTIA CySA+ or similar.
  • Previous experience working in a SOC environment.
