The Junior AMS Engineer role involves providing Applications Support to a major client for DXC. This role will require an understanding of applications support and will be a hybrid role with elements of office-based working in Aldermaston and at home. The working hours will be a mixture of 7am – 3pm and 9:30am to 5:30pm. The maximum days on site per week will be 3-4. There is also the potential for some out of hours on call support work.
Responsibilities:
- Performing early morning checks to ensure applications are healthy before the users log in.
- Monitor, diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Windows desktop and server-based applications.
- Manage incoming support requests ensuring all issues are troubleshooted and prioritised according to SLA.
- Assist in the deployment of software patches, upgrades and configuration changes across Production and Non-Production environments.
- Investigate Windows Event Viewer and Application log analysis to identify root causes of application errors.
- Create and update “how to guides” and knowledge base articles for common fixes and internal processes.
- Collaborate closely with other application engineers in the team as well as liaising with the client on a regular basis.
- Work together with the applications team to identify and implement continual service improvement activities.
