Responsibilities
- Installing and configuring database binaries
- Writing and maintaining scripts to automate DBA tasks
- Investigating and implementing automation of processes
- Perform routine, periodic, and proactive operation and monitoring
- Troubleshoot database related issues
- Perform patching and upgrades to ensure data security
- Take a proactive approach towards looking for risks and problems
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Willingness to investigate challenges and solve them
- Good organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Desirable Skills and Technologies
- Administration experience in a database technology such as Oracle, Mongo DB, Postgre SQL, My SQL, or other
- Experience with operating systems such as RHEL and Windows Server
- Experience in cloud technologies such as AWS and AWS database migrations
- Experience with Ansible
- Knowledge of database monitoring tools, such as OEM and Nagios
- Experience in scripting, such as Power Shell and Bash
- Knowledge of database server clustering, failover, and disaster recovery
- Experience in database replication software, such as Data Guard, Replication Manager for Postgre SQL, and Mongo DB Replica Sets
- Experience in backup/recovery procedures and scripting
