About The Role
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Tableau Desktop Specialist to join our growing analytics team in the Newcastle or Erskine area. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on impactful data projects, transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights through compelling visualizations.
Due to security clearance requirements, applicants should be sole UK nationals who are willing to undergo DV clearance. Candidates should also be willing to travel within the UK when required depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and reports
- Perform advanced data modeling, data cleaning, and data preparation using Tableau Prep
- Create insightful visualizations using heatmaps, scatter plots, bar charts, and more
- Implement trend lines, forecasting, and clustering techniques to uncover patterns and predictions
- Manage and publish content to Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud environments
- Integrate data from multiple sources using blending and joins
- Utilize Tableau JS API and REST API for embedding and automation
- Apply Level of Detail (LOD) expressions and table calculations to enhance analytical depth
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and version control (e.g., Git)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into scalable products
- Ensure best practices in data engineering and contribute to architectural decisions
- Support senior team members in identifying and addressing data science opportunities
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Tableau Desktop Specialist or similar role
- Strong portfolio of dashboard development and data storytelling
- Deep understanding of data modeling, data cleaning, and ETL processes
- Proficiency in advanced Tableau features including LOD, table calculations, and forecasting
- Experience with Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud administration
- Familiarity with Tableau Prep, JS API, and REST API
- Experience working in agile environments
- Knowledge of SQL or other data query languages
- Familiarity with embedding Tableau in web applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role
- Proficiencies in data cleansing, exploratory data analysis, and data visualization
- Continuous learner that stays abreast with industry knowledge and technology
- Experience of other data visualisation tools beneficial
