Job Description: DXC provides a Global Network Management Service for customers to outsource the management of their networks. A part of this service is the provision of a suite of Network Management tools. Separate, independent, UK-based instances of this service are also provided specifically for UK public sector clients. The Network Tooling Engineer will be part of a small team responsible for the configuration and ongoing support of mainly web-based Network Management tools for one of these secure instances. Ideally, the candidate will already have SC clearance and be willing to undergo further DV clearance, which is a prerequisite. These are zero-outage platforms, so the candidate will need to gain a good understanding of the entire application suite and aim to become a subject matter expert for one or more applications. It is expected that the candidate will have well-developed diagnostic, communication, and analytical skills across a range of technologies to maintain service continuity. Out-of-hours on-call work is required, including weekends. Note that access for remedial actions is only permitted from within secure on-site facilities. Education and Experience A recognized formal qualification in a computer-related subject is preferred. Significant relevant work experience is essential. Technical Delivery Capacity Management Monitoring, planning, and implementation of application capacity Backup support for team members in case of non-availability Incident Management Ensure incidents are resolved and logged within SLA parameters Perform on-call duties within a defined rota Problem Management Technical ownership for designated applications Responsibilities include security, change, and problem management Change Management Coordinate with application owners and change managers Implement changes within defined parameters Escalation Act as an escalation point for team support Identify technical resources for escalations Business Acumen Fluent English Ability to work in a small team and in a matrix environment Understanding of business processes and organization Strong interpersonal skills Ability to follow project plans and collaborate with project managers and application owners Essential Skills: UK Citizenship and security requirements (e.g., no recent travel outside the UK, DV clearance) Ability to adapt to changing requirements and a thirst to learn Support of production applications Knowledge of Change and Incident Management processes Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, PHP, Perl, or Shell scripting Strong Linux environment application deployment skills Experience with MySQL, Postgres, or Vertica Understanding of PKI/Digital Certificates Networking troubleshooting skills, including TCP/IP, OSI model, firewalls, IP addressing, SNMP, Syslog, ICMP, SSH, REST API, Webhooks Experience with Linux services like Apache and nginx, and deploying Linux-based applications Experience with appliance-type applications support Desirable Skills: ITIL Foundation certification Knowledge of TACACS+ and ITSM systems like ServiceNow Experience with Event, Performance, and Configuration Management Applications Knowledge of Java and Windows application deployment Advanced networking knowledge including packet capture, routing, switching, VLANs, NAT/PAT, and core services like DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, HTTP Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Podman Recruitment fraud is a scheme in which fictitious job opportunities are offered to job seekers, typically through online services, false websites, or unsolicited emails claiming to be from the company.
