Test Manager in Farnborough

The role of Test Manager is to manage IT test delivery across functional, performance, security, and other non‑functional testing activities.

The Test Manager is responsible for ensuring that test delivery aligns with the overall testing approach, methodology, tooling, and resource demands, and for supporting the creation of Project Test Strategies for projects of various complexities.

Responsibilities

• Manage IT Test delivery (Functional, Performance, Security, and other Non‑Functional Testing activities) in line with the defined overall testing approach, methodology, tooling, and resource demands.
• Support definition and creation of Project Test Strategies for projects ranging from churn or simple to medium complexity; collaborate with a Test Consultant for larger or more complex projects.
• Focus on individual projects rather than across programmes, taking direction from the Test Consultant when scope is large, complex, or involves multiple technical aspects (hardware, network, development language).
• Influence project requirements and testing plans at the start of projects and throughout the testing lifecycle, challenging assumptions, asking specific questions, and providing industry insight.
• Advocate for a shift‑left approach by influencing design and development to embed testing quality early, coordinating with solution architects and third‑party suppliers where DXC is the primary system integrator.
• Confirm testability of less complex project requirements, clarify ambiguities, and set clear expectations on actions and ownership.
• Support Test Consultants in carrying out health checks during delivery, ensuring adherence to the defined Test Strategy and the quality of test collateral and deliverables.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert for testing‑related activities, deferring to the Test Consultant for broader industry perspective.
• Manage delivery at the Test Manager level for Functional Testing (FT) and Non‑Functional Testing (NFT) activities where the size and complexity justify this role, potentially assigning specialized Test Managers (e. g., Performance Test Manager, Operation Acceptance Test Manager).
• Maintain relationships with and seek advice from the Consultant group to stay informed of strategic developments and manage existing delivery progress.
• Manage relationships with DXC and the client project team.
