The position is a Hybrid Working Senior Network Engineering Role with Proxy and F5 Load balancing experience. The role requires a minimum of 2 days on site at one of the DXC regional delivery centres in Glasgow or Newcastle. Expectation is that the successful candidate will cover project delivery and operational support on UK Secure accounts.
This Network Engineering role focuses on implementation of remote network services for a DXC secure customer. The role covers Proxy, F5 load balancing, LAN, WAN, Firewall and security infrastructures, remotely, with a key focus on Cisco and Aruba. Expectation is the successful candidate will have 10 years of proven work experience in a challenging, multi‑vendor data centre environment working as part of a team delivering project engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities- Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Maintain data network hardware and systems.
- Investigate and resolve network and hardware issues.
- Analyze, isolate, and troubleshoot network errors.
- Assess and upgrade legacy network components as needed.
- Provide technical support for both internal and external customers.
- Respond to technical inquiries and recommend solutions.
- Lead network problem escalation and resolution.
- Mentor junior Network Engineering staff.
- Install and maintain network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and system data for small to medium‑sized networks.
- Deploy network applications on servers and voice equipment.
- Conduct network testing, maintenance, and problem resolution.
- Perform network configurations and implement configuration changes on routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances.
- Prepare network diagrams and documentation to reflect current network operational status.
- Draft proposal documentation to address customer requirements.
- Collaborate with network architects to design and implement functional company networks.
- Conduct regular network performance tests.
- Cisco LAN/WAN skills equivalent to CCNP level.
- Aruba LAN skills equivalent to Aruba ACP level.
- Demonstrable experience working in a large‑scale multi‑vendor complex campus environment.
- Demonstrable experience working with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience with complex routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and iBGP.
- Knowledge of forwarding and reverse proxy technologies, including Broadcom/Symantec and Netskope.
- PKI & SSL certificate experience, browser configuration knowledge.
- Web server knowledge (HTML, CSS & JavaScript).
- Layer 7 understanding, end‑to‑end application flow skills.
- F5 load balancing – Big IP LTM/GTM.
- Experience working with large scale structured cabling infrastructures in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.
- Experience in data networking with both Cisco and Aruba infrastructures.
- Proven experience troubleshooting LAN/WAN/firewall systems and technical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of modern network systems, networking principles, and data or video communication.
- Eligible for or currently possess SC clearance (Mandatory).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Skilled in time, priority, and task management.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with customers and team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of managing competing priorities in complex environments.
- Professional demeanor with confidence in handling technical issues.
- Willingness to travel as requested.
- Availability for out of hours work including weekends as needed.
