Job Description
DXC’s Insurance Software and BPS business provides a range of software and services to the global insurance market including life, wealth, health, commercial and speciality, property and casualty, and reinsurance. DXC is also a key partner of the London Market, providing digital transformation and outsourcing services.
DXC’s insurance business has 13,000 domain experts serving 2,000 insurance customers operating in over 100 countries worldwide.
Role Summary
The Programme Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of multiple related projects within a programme, aligning them with business objectives and ensuring high standards of quality, stakeholder engagement, and financial oversight. Acting as the primary point of contact for programme delivery, this role is responsible for managing scope, tracking financial performance, mitigating risks, and fostering a collaborative team environment across multiple project streams.
Responsibilities
Client (Internal or External)
- Be the client\’s DXC point of contact for the delivery of the programme. (Note that the client may have different DXC contacts for commercial matters and wider engagement.)
- Represent the programme delivery team as a whole and the DXC resources within it.
- Define and oversee the programme delivery approach (e.g., Agile, SAFe, Hybrid, Waterfall, etc.).
- Ensure client satisfaction with both the overall programme and individual project deliveries.
- Identify growth opportunities within the programme and work to enhance client relationships.
Scope Management
- Understand the terms of engagement, whether through commercial contracts, internal work orders, or service agreements.
- Establish a clear understanding of programme scope and ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Manage changes to scope, balancing impact on delivery timelines, budget, quality, and available resources.
- Address discrepancies between initial agreements and evolving programme requirements promptly and effectively.
Financial Oversight
- Manage the programme budget, including cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure financial alignment across multiple projects and address any expected deviations proactively.
- Oversee and validate time bookings and resource allocations within the programme.
Stakeholder Management
- Identify internal and external stakeholders and ensure clear roles and responsibilities across the programme.
- Establish effective communication and engagement strategies with stakeholders at all levels.
- Maintain regular reporting and governance to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and issues.
Resource Management
- Work with capability managers and Tribe Leads to identify the right resources for programme delivery.
- Highlight and address resource constraints and risks as they arise.
- Identify and support training and development needs for programme team members.
Quality Assurance
- Define and uphold quality standards for the programme, including coding standards, testing, and review processes.
- Ensure all projects within the programme meet agreed quality measures before delivery.
Planning & Delivery Management
- Develop and maintain an integrated programme plan that enables tracking and reporting of progress.
- Oversee project managers to ensure alignment with the programme objectives and timelines.
- Identify blockers and take necessary actions to ensure smooth delivery.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and track programme-wide risks and issues.
- Implement mitigation strategies and escalate critical risks as needed.
- Maintain a clear communication process for addressing risks with relevant stakeholders.
Communication & Governance
- Define and manage a programme-wide meeting and reporting schedule, ensuring relevance and value.
- Lead governance meetings, including programme reviews and reporting at the executive level.
- Act as a key representative in Tribe Governance meetings and cross-functional coordination forums.
Team Leadership
- Foster a collaborative, transparent, and high-performing programme team environment.
- Ensure all team members’ perspectives are heard and valued.
- Support teams by removing blockers, resolving conflicts, and escalating critical issues when necessary.
- Participate actively in the Programme Management community, sharing and adopting best practices.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
- Certifications: Agile (SAFe, PMI-ACP), PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL.
- Tools: Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, MS Project.
- Industry Experience: IT consulting, enterprise programme management, managed services.
- Experience managing multiple project streams within a complex programme structure.
