The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme designed to train apprentices in all aspects of professional driving, culminating in the acquisition of a Category C1 (7.5t) licence. Successful completion of the programme leads to a full‑time 7.5t Driver position within DX.
Responsibilities
- Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
- Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
- Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements.
- Perform all daily checks, report defects immediately and complete correct paperwork.
- Scan all products using DX scanning equipment.
- Load all deliveries safely prior to leaving the depot.
- Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
- Manage routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved.
- Ensure all equipment and PPE is in good order and used at all times.
- Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
- Ensure customers receive deliveries in excellent condition and handle any customer issues politely and effectively.
- Collect on‑time according to given instructions.
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- Minimum 12 months of UK driving experience.
- Valid Category B licence.
- Must obtain a CPC licence as part of the apprenticeship.
- Must obtain a Category C1 (7.5t) licence during the programme.
