Role Summary
The successful candidate will support the warehousing and distribution operation by safely and efficiently shunting vehicles around the premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and site requirements.
- Ensure that consideration is given to other drivers, colleagues and pedestrians in the work area.
- Ensure all daily checks are undertaken, defects reported immediately, and associated paperwork completed.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, such as movement sheets, on time and in full.
- Be respectful to other road users and members of the public, protecting the company’s reputation at all times.
- Observe company rules and procedures defined in the shunter pack and other company policies (e.g., site rules).
- Ensure PPE used is in good order and utilised as instructed.
- Operate in line with the relevant Safe System of Work (SSOW).
- Continually seek to improve processes and services.
- Check all vehicles for defects prior to use and report any issues immediately.
Essential Criteria
- Hold a HGV 1/C+E Licence for a minimum of 2 years.
- No more than 6 points; no DD/ DR convictions.
- Hold a current valid DCPC Card.
- Understand and comply with Drivers hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
- Understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure safety and report defects correctly.
- Comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
