We are looking for a new Divisional Management Accountant for our Freight Division at the DX Group.
Job Summary
We are seeking an organized and self-motivated Management Accountant to join the Express Divisional team. The role involves working closely with business operations to provide meaningful information and analysis for informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will be proactive, a team player, able to prioritize workloads, and communicate effectively.
Overall Purpose of Role
This role involves working closely as a business partner with the Operations and Sales Teams. The successful applicant will:
- Ensure timely analysis is provided to relevant parties and support all ad-hoc information requests.
- Proactively analyze information to identify issues, trends, and patterns, working with management on responses.
- Collaborate with all teams to ensure P&Ls are accurate and submitted on time.
- Assist in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for all locations.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain weekly P&L and supporting files.
- Complete daily and weekly reporting such as revenue, costs, and volumes.
- Participate in depot budget preparations.
- Prepare management accounts for operational assessment.
- Analyze variances to budget and prior periods, highlighting concerns.
- Willingness to visit depots and train non-financial staff.
- Prepare monthly accruals and prepayment schedules.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects.
Measures
- Adherence to timetable for weekly P&L production.
- Timely depot budgets and forecasts.
- No significant unreported variances.
- Accurate and consistent management accounts delivery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Strong Excel skills, including handling large data sets.
- Minimum 2-3 years in a finance role; studying for professional exams preferred.
- Experience supporting non-finance colleagues.
- Experience with management accounts and financial systems is desirable.
- Driving license required.
