The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme where apprentices learn all aspects of professional driving and gain their Category C1 (7.5t) licence, with the aim of moving to a full‑time 7.5t Driver position within DX upon completion.

Key Tasks / Areas of Responsibility
- Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
- Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
- Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements.
- Perform daily checks, report defects immediately and complete correct paperwork.
- Scan all products using DX scanning equipment.
- Ensure deliveries are loaded safely prior to leaving the depot.
- Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
- Manage routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved.
- Use and maintain correct equipment and PPE at all times.
- Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
- Ensure customers receive their deliveries in excellent condition every time.
- Deal with any customer issues politely and effectively.
- Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times.
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
Applicants must be 18 or over, have a minimum of 12 months UK driving experience and hold a Category B licence. Apprentices will also be required to obtain a CPC licence as part of the programme, which is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.

There are several steps to become an apprentice. Applications are first reviewed by our partner, GTG, who will ask you to complete checks, submit information and undertake an English and numeracy assessment. Successful candidates are then invited to an interview.
