Job Description
The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme that trains apprentices in all aspects of professional driving, culminating in a Category C1 (7.5t) licence and CPC licences required for LGV vehicles. Successful completion leads to a full‑time 7.5t Driver role within DX.
Responsibilities
- Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
- Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
- Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements.
- Perform all daily checks, report defects immediately and complete correct paperwork.
- Scan all products using DX scanning equipment.
- Load deliveries safely before leaving the depot.
- Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
- Manage routing to meet premium and timed delivery commitments.
- Maintain correct equipment and PPE in good order and use them at all times.
- Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
- Ensure the customer receives deliveries in excellent condition every time.
- Address customer issues politely and effectively.
- Complete collections in line with given instructions and times.
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
- Applicant must be 18 or older with a minimum of 12 months of UK driving experience.
- Holder of a Category B licence.
- Minimum 12 months UK driving experience.
