Role summary:

As DX grow the business and develop new services, we aim to maximise the combined value of our Divisions and build a flexible operating model which supports interoperability to efficiently offer the best possible service to our customers while ensuring control and consistency and minimising overall cost. Based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, Network Planning sets the direction for network operations including operating footprint, assets, routing, systems, automation, planning, tracking and reporting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver specific design projects, trials and pieces of analysis as directed by the Network Planning Director
  • Run localised trials to test, prove and refine concepts and designs
  • Document elements of the current operating model and proposed options
  • Collect and validate high-level and detailed cost and operational data
  • Conduct quantitative analysis to compare options
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to support balanced qualitative assessment of options and ensure any recommendations are realistic
  • Liaise with IT to ensure alignment of systems requirements
  • Prepare, document and present recommendations and implementation plans
  • Maintain relevant benchmarks and best practices to guide and inform future design projects
  • Contribute to blue-sky thinking and idea generation and prioritisation

Knowledge, Skills and experience

Must Have:

  • Numerate with strong analytical skills. Must be able to build basic excel models to evaluate financial and operational impact of options
  • Familiar with end-to-end logistics processes and cost, capacity and productivity drivers, including Collection and Delivery, Transport and Under-the-roof activities
  • Experience in managing operational trials and measuring operational impact
  • Strong communication skills, able to focus on key messages and explain complex concepts in an understandable way
  • Familiarity with operational reporting metrics and dashboards

Nice to have:

  • Experience in operations research, time and motion, layout design and operational process design
  • Experience in building business cases for operational improvements and investment cases
