Michell Instruments, part of the DwyerOmega (DO) Group, is looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Manager to join our Ely manufacturing site. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you’ll play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing an already well-established HS&E management system, while helping to shape a proactive, positive safety culture aligned to wider global ESG objectives.
You’ll work closely with site leadership and employees, supporting day-to-day operations while driving continuous improvement across health, safety, and environmental performance. This role would suit a safety-focused professional who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, influencing others, and making a tangible impact.
- Health & Safety
- Lead, develop, and continuously improve site health & safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
- Ensure full compliance with UK health & safety legislation and best practice
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and HS&E training requirements
- Monitor performance through audits, inspections, and reporting
- Manage site environmental compliance, including waste, energy usage, and GHG emissions
- Maintain and improve environmental management systems
- Monitor and report environmental performance internally and externally
- Develop and deliver HS&E training and awareness programmes
- Promote a proactive, transformative safety culture through coaching and visible leadership
- Ensure contractors comply with site HS&E standards and legal requirements
- Review contractor RAMS prior to work commencing
- Prepare reports for site leadership, including performance trends and improvement plans
Proven experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role
Strong working knowledge of UK H&S and environmental legislation
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
A proactive, learning-oriented mindset with a passion for safety
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Experience delivering training or workshops
ISEP (formerly IEMA) environmental qualification
