We're looking for a Solicitor (Litigation) to join our Legal team and help us deliver trusted, customer-focused legal support across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with litigation experience who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong stakeholder relationships, and making a genuine difference within a purpose-driven organisation.
What you'll be doing
You'll play a key role in managing and supporting litigation matters across the business, with a particular focus on customer debt recovery and enforcement activities. You'll also work on a broader range of civil litigation issues and provide practical legal advice that supports sound business decision-making.
- Managing customer debt recovery litigation and enforcement matters
- Providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across contentious and non-contentious matters
- Supporting litigation cases from instruction through to resolution
- Attending court where appropriate, including advocacy work in line with your experience
- Instructing and managing external legal advisers
- Supporting responses to customer and third-party complaints requiring legal input
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and advising on business impact
- Developing guidance, legal resources and best practice materials
- Mentoring colleagues and sharing legal knowledge across the team
- Supporting the development of recovery, collections and cost recovery strategies
About you
We're interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
- Approximately 3+ years' PQE (although we welcome applications from candidates with equivalent skills and experience)
- Experience gained within private practice and/or an in-house legal environment
- Strong civil litigation and debt recovery experience
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and legal research skills
- Ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to non-legal stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Collaborative approach with a passion for supporting and developing others
Desirable
- Experience within a regulated industry or utility environment
- Knowledge of the water sector
- Understanding of the legislative competence of Senedd Cymru
