What you’ll be responsible for
The primary role of the Facilities Mobile Engineer is to undertake the Planned and re-active maintenance of Welsh Water assets ensuring Statutory Compliance at all times. Identify and manage property asset reliability and risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations and ensure a safe and fit for purpose working environment is maintained. You will also:
- Work with the Head of Facilities Management to ensure the reliability and maintainability of all property mechanical and electrical installations and assets to ensure statutory compliance at all times
- Undertake all Planned Preventive Maintenance and Re-active calls and issues that arise on the property portfolio. Respond to ad hoc maintenance request from the Facilities Helpdesk
- Represent the Facilities Team in the final check out of new installations, including new builds and installations with on-site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
- Lead and ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems
- Provide input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability that could adversely impact property assets and plant operation
- Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations, including capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues
- Provide on-call cover 24/7 on a Rota to respond to property failures and maintenance issues that may affect the buildings\’ operation
- Provide technical support to the Facilities Team, maintenance management and technical personnel
- Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions
- Actively support delivery of projects to ensure completion within the statutory, regulatory and financial outputs of the DCWW Business Plan, demonstrating value for money investment on all projects by ensuring DCWW commercial and procurement processes are adhered to by all contractors and interface with the operational teams, investment management systems and Local Asset Management processes and competencies to achieve DCWW measures of success
- Ensure that business is able to meet its requirement for project delivery in line with CDM requirements, to agreed timeline and within approved target cost which will enable delivery of the AMP DCWW H&S Improvement investment programme
- Support the Health & Safety management of contractors and suppliers on Welsh Water assets ensuring that Health And Safety is a high priority and is maintained at all times
- Identify and deliver best practice project delivery

About you
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering
- Ideally at least 5 years’ experience in the Water Industry (Preferred).
- A wide range of project and people management skills are required, combined with strong experience in the delivery of maintenance & Reliability improvement projects within the water industry or similar.
- An ability to think strategically in terms of lifetime costs; by identifying a range of possible solutions and presenting a coherent rationale for a recommended action.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined engineering environment whilst maintaining effective day-to-day delivery of services.
- The ability to work to tight regulatory and project deadlines.
