What you'll be responsible for:
- Contributing in all operational activities to ensure consistent delivery of potable water to our customers.
- Operating the water distribution network and assets safely and costâeffectively, capturing data and applying procedures in a compliant manner.
- Complying with all company Health and Safety Policies & Procedures, with the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and customers always in mind.
- Undertaking network monitoring, diagnosing problems and arriving at and implementing network solutions that ensure we meet our measures of success.
- Understanding hydraulic principles and carrying out operations of all components of the Water Distribution network in line with the training received.
- Ensuring all onâsite activity and asset data is captured in a compliant, timely and accurate manner in our corporate system.
- Generating accurate work orders for delivery by our supply chain for all below and above ground assets and providing support when required to ensure safe operation and maintenance.
- Enforcing basic water regulations through communication with customers and liaison with the water regulations department to meet DWI and Water Act 1991 requirements; investigating, identifying and escalating water quality issues to protect public health.
- Carrying out inspections of the company's assets when required to identify, report and, where safe, rectify defects that could affect safety, effectiveness or longâterm condition.
- Participating in asset protection by working with stakeholders who may present a risk, and enforcing Apparatus Damage Report procedures when damage occurs.
- Managing a scheduled workload based on importance and urgency while working on a mobile basis in the field.
- Understanding and applying leakage detection techniques to identify leaks on the network or customer supply pipes and liaising with stakeholders to achieve leakage targets efficiently.
- Supporting development of internal colleagues and external stakeholders through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
- Attending emergency calls and alarms from the Operational Response Centre and Retail Business, assessing required response and initiating procedures to resolve the issue.
- Attending customer appointments and faceâtoâface interactions to resolve inquiries.
- Ensuring that all GIS updates are submitted to the GIS bureau so Welsh Water can maintain highâquality, accurate information.

About You:
- Current, full valid driving licence
- Good level of customer service experience
- Computer literate
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the water industry
- Effective communication skills; ability to communicate in both Welsh and English advantageous
- The drive and ambition to provide a firstâclass service to our customers
- Sound understanding of Microsoft software packages including Excel and Word
- Willingness to work alone and as part of a team
- Ability to build and maintain good networks with team members, internal departments, company partners and contractors
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and in difficult circumstances, whilst still providing unbiased service to customers
