Who we are

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water keep 3 million people healthy each day with safe, reliable water, and take away wastewater to clean, before returning it safely to our beautiful rivers and seas. Llys y Fran is our largest reservoir in Pembrokeshire residing in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains. The site had a £4m refurbishment reopening the Visitor Centre with a new café, retail area and a superb Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities. What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Your role is to support the Activity team to safeguard and assist customers who undertake watersports, land based or team building activities; ensuring a high standard of health and safety at all times.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by welcoming visitors, assisting throughout their visit and projecting a positive image of Welsh Water at all times.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality land and water-based activities, including team-building programmes, in line with NGB and Welsh Water requirements.
  • Manage activity equipment hire, including customer check-in, handling bookings and enquiries, taking payments and delivering effective safety briefings.
  • Work proactively as part of a team to set up, operate and pack away site facilities, supporting customers using equipment on site.
  • Ensure the safety of all site users by enforcing site rules, maintaining water safety standards and following procedures for incident reporting.
  • Maintain activity equipment to a high standard, ensuring cleanliness, security, repair and continuous availability throughout the season.
  • Support reservoir safety, biosecurity and general site upkeep in collaboration with the Ranger team, including litter picking, cleaning and basic maintenance.
  • Work collaboratively with third-party organisations, including wildlife charities, volunteer groups and partner organisations.
  • Support conservation, education, public access and recreational activities, events and open days.
  • Provide flexible support to other departments (e.g. café or Ranger team) and undertake other duties as required to meet business needs.

Who you’ll work with:

  • Internal: Activity Manager, Deputy Activity Manager, Senior Activity Instructor, Activity Instructor, Receptionist, Visitor Attraction Staff
  • External: Members of the public, School, youth and community groups, Local landowners and farmers

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Water safety knowledge
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • IT literate – we use a variety of computer systems which we will teach you
  • Always honest and professional

The following qualifications or skills would be preferable but are not essential for this role:

  • Appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) Certification in designated water sports discipline. e.g. RYA Start Windsurfing / Sailing
  • Current Recognised First Aid Certificate/British Canoe Union (BCU) Qualification
  • Experience delivering water or land-based activities
  • Lifeguard Qualification
