What you'll be responsible for:

  • Operating and maintaining several of our Wastewater Treatment Works and associated sewage pumping stations in line with environmental permits to company Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Taking responsibility for operating sites in line with environmental permits to protect the environment; general maintenance of equipment and site, taking effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance.
  • Identifying and where applicable undertaking reactive work as required. Raising reactive work for equipment when required and liaising with multi‑discipline craft team on facilitating repairs.
  • Identifying potential pollution risks from our assets, taking measures to prevent pollution, and escalating when required.
  • Liaising and coordinating with the area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and continuous improvement for the area.
  • Taking responsibility for personal and colleagues’ safety through compliance with company Health and Safety procedures.
  • Understanding and adhering to quality system requirements to ensure audit compliance.
  • Taking ownership of sites, ensuring house‑keeping standards are maintained and defects reported.
  • Willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites.
  • Participating in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Participating in out of hours standby rota.

About you:

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualification (desirable).
  • Demonstrable experience of compliance and adherence to Health & safety standards.
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day.
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as Environment Agency/NRW.
  • Computer systems literate.
  • Passionate about our outdoor environment and protecting our surroundings.
  • Team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements required for the role.

Good to know:

  • Multi‑site mobile working within defined geographical area, no home working.
  • Mon – Thurs 0700 – 1500, Fri – 0700 – 1430, and 1 in 4 weekends; Requirement to cover standby & 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential of up to £3,000 a year.
  • Potential additional unplanned overtime in excess of this will be in line with business requirements.
  • Company Vehicle Provided.
