What you’ll be responsible for:
You’ll join a great team of colleagues at the Visitors Centre. As a Visitor Experience Ranger, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of site presentation and visitor experience. Your responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the site, creating an environment that reflects the quality and values of Welsh Water. You will act as a visible presence across the site, monitoring visitor activity to uphold safety and site rules, and addressing issues promptly and professionally. Through proactive engagement, you will provide visitors with a warm, knowledgeable, and helpful service, always promoting a positive image of Welsh Water.
- Site Presentation & Cleanliness: Maintain grounds, facilities, and amenities to exceptional standards, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
- Policing & Safety: Monitor visitor behaviour, enforce site regulations, and respond effectively to incidents to protect people and property.
- Guest Interaction: Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting visitors, answering queries, and sharing knowledge about the site and its surroundings.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About you: You are passionate about delivering exceptional visitor experiences and take pride in maintaining high standards across our sites. You enjoy working outdoors and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and a friendly, professional manner when engaging with the public. You are adaptable, willing to support different departments, and comfortable handling both customer‑facing duties and practical tasks such as grounds maintenance and facility upkeep.
You will have:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to engage visitors positively.
- A hands‑on attitude for maintaining internal and external facilities, including toilets and showers.
- Awareness of health and safety practices and confidence in enforcing site rules.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Experience in grounds maintenance, cleaning, or basic repairs (desirable).
- A willingness to assist across departments such as café/catering, retail, activities, and campsite.
Enhanced DBS check required prior to start date.
Good to know:
- Casual contract, approximately 16 hours per week (flexible - could be offered more).
- Earliest start 08:00am and latest finish will be 20:30pm (typically 8 hours shifts, subject to operational needs).
- 6 weeks advanced rota.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join Welsh Water. The site boasts a state‑of‑the‑art Visitor Attraction building with a 150-cover restaurant, balcony with views over both reservoirs, group and cubicle changing rooms, both land and water-based activities, education learning space, bird hides & islands, meeting rooms and a Grab & Go. Come and join our team and work in this green/blue oasis less than 5 miles from Cardiff city centre.
