Responsibilities
- Show knowledge and competency in taking both regulatory and non-regulatory samples.
- Deal with customers and members of the public in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Deliver the sampling and monitoring programmes.
- Provide support in investigations to ensure compliance with regulations and protection of DCWW's assets.
- Understand the relevance of the "Performance Scorecard" to DCWW's Business Plan and be aware of the reputational and regulatory implications of sample failures.
- Provide specialist sampling response in the event of a terrorist attack.
- Be responsible for taking regulatory and non-regulatory samples, in accordance with sampling procedures.
- Support the business in attaining and maintaining ISO 17025 DWTS accreditation for potable sampling and ISO 17025 for OSM sampling.
- Be open to regular scrutiny and audit, both internally and externally.
- Identify and escalate issues found at DCWW sites.
- Work closely with Sampling Co-ordinators to ensure that all samples are taken within appropriate timescales.
- Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of equipment used in sampling, in accordance with ISO17025 and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in out of hours standby rotas.
- Collect samples in accordance with procedures.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with ISO17025.
- Ensure that all field test equipment is maintained and calibrated in compliance with ISO17025.
- Identify any samples not taken and communicate this to Sampling Coordinators.
- Responsible for checking vehicles, organising servicing, and ensuring they are road-worthy at all times.
- Participate in the daily sampling debriefs process to identify reasons for any missed samples.
- Work in a safe manner at all times.
- Attend meetings as necessary.
- Participate in rota for weekend/evening sampling.

- External: DWI and NRW regulators, Customers / Members of public, Public Health Wales, Councils / Government
Qualifications & Experience
- Full Driving Licence.
- Ability to travel as job requires.
- GCSE C Grade in English, Mathematics and Science (equivalent relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to formal qualifications).
- Have experience of sampling or drinking water treatment processes and legislation.
- Dealing with customers and members of the public in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Able to take responsibility for own actions whilst working in the field following procedures and guidelines.
