Across our region we have 833 wastewater treatment sites. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining several Wastewater Treatment Works and associated sewage pumping stations in line with environmental permits to company Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Health and Safety requirements. This role requires ownership of sites, ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained, and defects are reported. You will contribute to environmental protection, safety and continuous improvement for the area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sites in line with environmental permits to protect the environment; perform general maintenance of equipment and site, and take effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance.
  • Identify and undertake reactive work as required. Raise reactive work for equipment when required and liaise with the multi-discipline craft team to facilitate repairs.
  • Identify potential pollution risks from assets, take measures to prevent pollution, and escalate when required.
  • Liaise and coordinate with the area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and continuous improvement for the area.
  • Take responsibility for personal and colleagues' safety through compliance with company Health and Safety procedures; understand and adhere to quality system requirements to ensure audit compliance.
  • Take ownership of sites, maintain housekeeping standards, and report defects.
  • Be willing to develop and learn within the role and be flexible and competent to operate and maintain multiple sites.
  • Participate in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for the area of operation.
  • Undertake any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualification (desirable).
  • Demonstrable experience of compliance and adherence to Health & Safety standards.
  • Enthusiastic about putting customers first every day.
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as Environment Agency/NRW.
  • Computer systems literate.
  • Passionate about outdoor environment and protecting surroundings.
  • Team player, willing to participate in all necessary training requirements for the role.

Work Details

  • Mon - Thurs 07:00–15:00, Fri 07:00–14:30, and 1 in 4 weekends.
  • Requirement to cover standby and 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential up to £3,000 a year.
  • Potential additional unplanned overtime as required by business needs.
