Overview
Across our region we have 833 wastewater treatment sites.
You will be responsible for operating and maintaining several of our Wastewater Treatment Works and associated sewage pumping stations in line with environmental permits, company Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Health and Safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operating sites in line with environmental permits to protect the environment;
- General maintenance of equipment and site, including taking effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance;
- Identifying and undertaking reactive work as required, and raising reactive work for equipment when necessary;
- Liaising with a multi‑discipline craft team to facilitate repairs;
- Identifying potential pollution risks from assets, taking measures to prevent pollution, and escalating when required;
- Liaising and coordinating with the area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and continuous improvement for the area;
- Ensuring personal and colleagues’ safety through compliance with company Health and Safety procedures;
- Understanding and adhering to quality system requirements to ensure audit compliance;
- Taking ownership of sites, ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained and defects reported;
- Operating and maintaining multiple sites with flexibility and competence;
- Participating in arrangements for annual leave and sickness cover for the area of operation;
- Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business;
- Participating in out‑of‑hours standby rota.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience of compliance and adherence to Health & Safety standards;
- Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day;
- Awareness of regulatory bodies such as Environment Agency/NRW;
- Computer systems literate;
- Passionate about our outdoor environment and protecting our surroundings;
- Team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements;
- Willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites;
- UK driver’s licence (for company vehicle use);
- Aiming to achieve Competent Operator NVQ qualification.
Benefits
- Base salary £28,065.00 – £31,887.00, with potential earnings up to £38,092.00 with AH & standby requirements;
- Working one in five weekends and some bank holidays expected;
- Standby requirement every one in ten;
