Overview

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping financial performance and driving efficiency? At Welsh Water, we’re looking for a Management Accountant who thrives on accuracy, insight, and collaboration. You’ll be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring a true and fair view of performance while maintaining compliance with our policies and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Month‑End Excellence: Prepare and post monthly journals and accruals in SAP, and complete cost and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Insightful Reporting: Deliver accurate, timely information for decision‑making, including variance analysis and commentary. You’ll also take part in cost review meetings.
  • Planning & Forecasting: Work closely with the business to develop financial plans, budgets, and run‑rates, leading planning sessions that shape our future.
  • Cost Analysis: Provide detailed analysis of cost drivers and controllable expenditure, focusing on operational efficiency and external trends.
  • Regulatory & Audit Support: Assist with regulatory reporting and collaborate with internal and external auditors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements within your team to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • ACCA or CIMA (part‑qualified or fully qualified)
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems (e.g., Oracle)
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to prioritise competing demands and manage expectations effectively
  • Technical Experience: Strong background in posting journals, reconciling accounts, and producing reports for budget holders
  • Personal Drive: Energy and enthusiasm to deliver results and continuously improve processes
  • Team Spirit: Collaborative, adaptable, and an excellent communicator

Hybrid working – 2 days/week in the Newport office.
