What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse complex operational data.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate, influence stakeholders and drive positive outcomes through data-led insight.
  • Experience leading change and service improvement, taking projects from concept to delivery while influencing others to achieve objectives.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex data, apply sound judgement and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting complex findings and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Experience using SQL or similar data manipulation tools, version control such as Git, and Power BI or similar visualisation software.

You and your role

As an Operational Management Information Developer, you will play a key role in using data and insight to help shape services that support millions of customers across the UK.

You'll work in our Working Age Data and Performance Team - at the heart of DWP's Digital Transformation Group - providing analysis and performance reporting that drive continuous improvement across Working Age services.

You'll develop high-quality management information, dashboards and analytical products using tools such as Power BI and SQL, transforming complex data into meaningful insights that support operational and strategic decision making.

By combining data from multiple sources, you'll identify trends, measure performance and uncover opportunities to improve service delivery across Universal Credit and Labour Market services.

You'll work with operational colleagues, digital teams and senior stakeholders, including Directors and Ministers, and influence decisions through evidence-based analysis. You'll lead analytical projects and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home (40%) and some time collaborating face to face in a hub (60%).

Pay: We offer competitive pay for this role of up to £45,065.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £11,232 per year.

Holidays: A leave package starting at 24 days rising to 26 days after one year and 31 days over time.

You can take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
