Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale digital change.
  • Manage projects with multi-functional teams to deliver innovative services that support millions of people.
  • Modernise legacy systems, drive cloud adoption, and create low-code solutions while leading impactful change in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
  • Take ownership of project controls, ensuring plans, risks, issues, and dependencies are managed effectively.
  • Provide governance and reporting to senior leaders, influencing decisions at board level and resolving complex challenges with confidence.
  • Work across a diverse stakeholder landscape, setting the pace for delivery and collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve success.
  • Foster a positive team culture, coaching and mentoring to improve flow, quality, and ownership, while managing dynamics and resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Continue your own development and support the wider Project Delivery community to establish best practices and standards.

What you will manage

  • Core Digital Service - Benefit Payment Services: lead technical delivery across complex digital environments, manage cross-cutting projects and infrastructure/software upgrades on legacy systems and services.
  • HCS Database Platforms: lead end-to-end delivery of multiple projects at pace, supporting the transition to a hybrid cloud model.
  • Low Code Team: deliver low-code solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, modernising services from scratch or remediating legacy applications.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Skills and experience as a digital project manager.
  • Influential communicator able to lead with impact across a wide range of stakeholders, tailoring messages to the audience.
  • Proven ability to motivate peers to deliver at pace and maintain a positive team environment; able to resolve difficult relationships and support teams to overcome conflicts.
  • Detailed working knowledge to spot project risks and blockers and to remove or escalate them quickly and effectively; identify themes and facilitate learning from experience.
  • Experience of procurement, commercial and supplier management and managing budgets.
  • Creative and effective planner for internal and external to the team, optimising speed to market, value and quality.
  • Adaptable with ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and to cope with complexity and change.

Location and hybrid working

Location: Choose from Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield. Hybrid Working: Hybrid model – some time at home and some time in a hub.

Pay, Pension and Holidays

  • Pay: From £57,946 to £68,205
  • Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%
  • Holidays: 26 days rising to 31 days, plus up to 3 extra flexi-time days per month and public holidays.
