Responsibilities

• Ensure the departments database and infrastructure services run smoothly and are designed for long-term stability.
• Shape the design, support, and improvement of database and infrastructure services.
• Make informed design choices that maintain reliable services aligned with DWP needs.
• Provide guidance to senior engineers on complex technical challenges.
• Support junior colleagues in skill development and growth.
• Transform risks and raw data into insights for informed decision-making by leaders.
• Represent the department with external partners and promote good engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in building and developing centralized Data Platforms for large datasets from diverse sources.
• Proficiency in Oracle Database technologies (RAC, Dataguard, RMAN Backup and Recovery).
• Familiarity with Public Cloud Technologies, particularly OCI and AWS.
• Technical leadership experience and ability to support Infrastructure Engineers.
• Understanding of Agile principles in infrastructure delivery.
• Strong communication skills to influence and engage a variety of stakeholders.
• Ability to think strategically while providing hands-on leadership.
• Experience in guiding roadmap and architecture work and managing major incidents.
