We are looking for Test Engineers to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. We are using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

Experience building and maintaining comprehensive, robust, and reliable automated tests and frameworks against UIs or APIs and understand the other. Experience of the testing lifecycle from understanding business needs from delivery to production. Evidence of being an adaptable team player who understands agile ways of working and shift left principles.

Knowledge and experience of non-functional testing e.g. Performance, Security and Accessibility - including test types, test tools and standards. Demonstrable skills and experience in Java or JavaScript and software engineering practices.

A day in the life of a Test Engineer at DWP is about working closely with developers, designers and other testers to help deliver services that people across the UK depend on. You will get involved early in development, shaping designs and building automated tests that give teams confidence their services work properly and continue to work as they evolve.

You will focus on what really matters by taking a risk-based approach to testing, making sure accessibility, usability, security and performance are built in from the start. Alongside keeping CI/CD pipelines running smoothly and sharing clear updates on quality and risk, you will be encouraged to challenge how things are done and suggest better ways of working to improve DWP services for users.

Location: You will join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is more convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you will spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £53,813.

Pension: You will get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £12,000 per year.

Holidays: You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You will also get all the usual public holidays.
